European Union Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals, also known as REACH, was established in 2006 in order to improve the safe use of chemicals, and addresses chemicals of concern, within the European Union. As such, the REACH legislation requires the registration of chemicals used in the creation of products being imported into the EU. Failure to register could result in the prevention of products from importation.
APM Hexseal has carefully studied this legislation and maintains that, based on the following points, we are in compliance with, and not required to register in, the REACH program.
- As of the date of this document, APM Hexseal products do not contain any of the Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs) as listed on the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) website. Follow THIS LINK to view the up-to-date “Candidate List” of SVHCs as maintained by the ECHA.
- The rubber materials contained in our products are fully cured and contain minimal volatiles and chemical residues. There are no known hazards with contacting, using, or disposing of these products.
- The total weight of all of the components in all APM Hexseal products exported directly to the European Union per year does not exceed 1 metric ton, which constitutes an exception in the REACH legislation and thus does not require registration.
