Directive Compliance General RoHS stands for “Restriction of Hazardous Substances”, as defined by the European Union Directive #2011/65/EU dated the 8th of June, 2011.
The RoHS Directive is a legal document that prohibits new electrical and electronic equipment put on the market in the European Union from containing certain amounts of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). The RoHS Directive compliments the European Union “Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment” (WEEE) Directive.
