Job Title: Director of Operations

Reports To: General Manager

Job Purpose

The Director of Operations will oversee the Shipping/Receiving, Manufacturing and Product Inspection/Cleaning functions within the organization. Success requires a close working relationship with the Purchasing department. Responsibilities will include Safety of the workplace, Quality, Productivity, and Efficiency of the manufacturing processes. The Director of Operations will collaborate closely with fellow Directors of Sales, Finance, Engineering and Quality.  This position requires a hands-on approach to management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and Direct approximately 30 union employees in three departments, and supporting supervisors, to produce and assemble quality products to meet sales requirements.
  • Manage Outside services i.e. plating, machining, o-ringing and cleaning, ensuring that quality and delivery requirements are met.
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with the union representing the factory employees.
  • Maintain and foster a high performing team environment within the Operations group and throughout the company.
  • Develop Budgets and monitor performance to meet company targets for cost control.
  • Play a leadership role on the safety committee within the company.
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy and activities to support accuracy, including driving a cycle counting initiative as well as physical inventories.
  • Management of Operations input into the ERP system, this includes timeliness and accuracy.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment.

Qualifications

  • Well organized.
  • Strong Computer skills, Epicor experience a huge plus.
  • Strong Leadership/Teaming skills.
  • BS degree in Business or Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement concepts – implementation experience preferred.
  • 5-10 years in positions of increasing manufacturing responsibility.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly beneficial.

Working Conditions

The Director of Operations will be required to interact with all levels of the organization, the physical environment will be approximately 60% office and 40% on the operations floor.

Physical Requirements

The position is managerial and does not require lifting of heavy items.  The position requires managing Shipping, Receiving, and Manufacturing personnel in a plant environment.

Direct Reports

Director of Operations is a senior management position reporting directly to the General Manager and will approximately 30 employees, and 2 supervisors.
